Have you ever really thought about Coca Cola? I know some have heard you can bake cakes with it and a lot of you probably drink one every day. Well, let me give you some stuff to think about as you drink your coke.
- A couple of years ago, one of the missionaries that my church supports was on deputation and came and preached at my church. He had with him a coke. He is a missionary to Togo Palms, Africa. He told a story, of when he was just moved there, and he was going out with an older missionary to meet one of the tribe leaders. It was a good little drive out, but after that, they had to walk a ways; and it wasn’t a little ways either. Well, after walking all that way he was really thirsty, but, he had left his canteen back in the truck and he wasn’t about to walk back for it. He figured that he’d be ok, and that maybe the tribe would have some water when they sat down for the meal. In Africa, they have really spicy food, so after tasting it and eating some he was ready for some water. When he asked for something to drink, they handed him a coke.
After he got home, he did some research on the internet about coca cola and here is what he found:
- 51% of the people in the world have tasted Coke
- 72% have seen a Coke and
- 97% of the world have heard of Coke
This was really shocking when you look at the percentages that haven’t heard about our Lord, Jesus Christ and his salvation message, to the percent who have heard about a soda.
It really makes me think of what can I do, to promote the gospel message where I’m at right now. I know I can’t do much, being only 17 and in a very small town; but I will keep looking.

My sister has a shirt that we got from youth camp that says, “Calling On Christ Always Can Offer Life Abundantly”. So cool how many different things people can come up with. =)
